I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the incredible support, kindness, understanding and care I have received since losing my mum.

However, itβs important to say, this last week I feel like Iβve been hit by a steam train and Iβm struggling with my emotions. Please bear with me. Some of the best ideas donβt come from a lab. They come from listening.
In 1996, our founder Jane Wurwand was on a teaching trip to Japan, exhausted and in need of stillness.
She retreated to Hakone, at the base of Mount Fuji, to rest and reset. On day four, a skin therapist sat her down. No shared language. Just a wooden bowl, a ceramic dish, and a small scoop of powder.
βShe ritualistically rubbed the powder into my skin,β Jane recalls.
βMy skin felt amazing.β
The ingredient? Rice. Ancient. Simple. Profound.
Jane called Dermalogicaβs head of R&D from Japan. What followed was years of development, pairing phytic acid from rice with salicylic acid and papaya enzymes to decongest, resurface, and brighten.
And the format? It had to be powder. A nod to the ritual that started it all.
Daily Microfoliant launched in 2001. 25 Years later, one is sold every 21 seconds globally.
The salon will re-open tomorrow as normal.
I do not have a funeral date as yet, as soon as I do, those clients with appointments affected will be contacted directly.
